THE LANGUAGE OF THE STARS

Every Wednesday evening, Céline Kiihapaa invites you to join her in the observation of the magnificent stars of the southern sky. She will show you how to find the Southern Cross, Vega, Castor, Pollux – those stars with their evocative names and many others. An interesting and relaxing experience will transport you to another world.

The observation point is on the airstrip of Manihi, just 2 minutes from the hotel. You need not be concerned for no planes are allowed to land at night time and the runway will be just for you.

THE SECRETS OF THE BLACK PEARL

The Manihi Pearl Beach Resort proposes a fascinating journey into the world of the Tahitian Black Pearl. It is an exclusive half-day visit to the pearl farm of Jean Claude Corrion where you will see the various stages of its production, including the delicate grafting, as well as gaining an appreciation of what life is like on a isolated pearl farm on a small island in the middle of the great Pacific Ocean. You will go by boat to a secret spot to see how the lines of the pearl shells are anchored.

You can free-dive to join in the raising and harvesting of 5 shells from which perhaps will come a perfect faultless shiny pearl. Back at the farm, you will join in the process. You can clean, prepare and open your 5 pearl shells. Join in the excitement of the grafting specialists for whom this moment of truth comes after years of work and care. You will be invited to gently extract the pearls from your shells. See how the shells themselves are scraped on polished. Then after a refreshment break, you return to the hotel with your cleaned pearls and two polished shells.

ROBINSON CRUSOE PICNIC ON THE MOTU

A wild little corner of paradise between sky and ocean: the idea of being lost on a deserted island dependent only on the fruits of nature is not so far removed. Our team will let you play latter-day Robinson Crusoe on you own little island motu. On the program: line fishing, preparation of “poisson cru”, barbecue lunch, swimming and snorkelling, observation of rays and sharks…
